We’ve almost made it to October! While the Bay Area is finally seeing summer weather and embracing all things Pumpkin-Spiced, the Engagio team is focusing their energy elsewhere. As part of a company-wide, Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, we are walking across North America! We’ have joined AVAYA and Plantronics in their “Month of Giving – Walk Around The World”.
That seems like quite the distance, right? Well, our dedicated team of 30 has committed to walking 10,000 steps a day, every day throughout this pumpkin-filled month. You may be wondering, “How far is 10K steps?” To put that into perspective, the average person has a stride length of roughly between 2.1 and 2.5 feet. This means one mile equates to roughly 2,000 steps, which puts 10,000 at 5 miles. As a team of 30 people walking 10K steps per day for the entire month, we’ll rack up 930,000 steps total!
We aren’t walking the #10KaDay solely for our health; we’re committed to supporting Save the Children. Their mission statement really resonates with our team: our commitment to work-life balance, healthy living and the power of a small group to make a big change.
Save the Children invests in childhood – every day, in times of crisis and for our future. In the United States and around the world, we give children a healthy start, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. By transforming children’s lives now, we change the course of their future and ours.
